American ice hockey coach (1937-2003), best known for coaching the US hockey team to a gold medal at the 1980 Winter Olympics in an event known as the ‘Miracle on Ice.’ Exceptional glossy 8 x 10 photo of a young Brooks on the ice as a player for the Minnesota Golden Gophers in 1959, signed later in black felt tip, “Herb Brooks, ‘59,” the year the photo was taken. A trivial fingerprint brush to a single letter of signature, otherwise very fine condition.
