The letter reads, "<I>The Hon. W. F. Conway, formerly a representative in Congress from Kansas and now a resident of Richmond Va, desires the appointment of U.S. Dist. Judge for the District of Virginia, when a vacancy should occur, and it gives me much pleasure to express in his behalf the sincere wish that he may be appointed. Mr. Conway I know well, he is a gentleman of character, experience, and legal attainments of no ordinary character, and is well qualified to discharge the duties of the position he seeks.</B></I>" Very fine condition.<BR>Wilson, who would become the 18th Vice President in 1873, was here writing as a U.S. Senator from Massachusetts.
