Distinguished American poet (1807–1882) who produced such timeless classics as ‘Paul Revere’s Ride,’ ‘The Song of Hiawatha,’ and ‘Evangeline.’ Among other distinctions, he was the first American honored with a sculpted likeness in the Poet’s Corner of Westminster Abbey. ALS, one page, 4.5 x 7, February 4, 1870. Longfellow accepts a dinner invitation. In full: “I accept with great pleasure your kind invitation to dinner on Thursday next, and will be with you punctually at the hour of six.” In fine condition. Accompanied by an address panel, 5 x 4, addressed in Longfellow’s hand to “Herrn B. Hunold National Museum Ferdinandeum zu Innsbruck.”
