Distinguished American poet (1807–1882) who produced such timeless classics as “Paul Revere’s Ride,” “The Song of Hiawatha,” and “Evangeline.” Among other distinctions, Longfellow was the first American honored with a sculpted likeness in the Poet’s Corner of Westminster Abbey. ALS, one page, 4.5 x 7, February 4, 1870. Longfellow accepts a dinner invitation. In full: “I accept with great pleasure your kind invitation to dinner on Thursday next, and will be with you punctually at the hour of six.” In fine condition.
