Third-person ALS signed within the text, “Mr. Longfellow,” 4.5 x 7, January 30, 1880. In full: "Mr. Longfellow accepts with great pleasure Mrs. Ole Bull's kind invitation for Thursday evening, Feb. 5." In very good to fine condition, with overall light mottled toning. The letter is addressed to the wife of Ole Bull (1810–1880) the Norwegian violinist and composer, who made many tours of the United States and married the daughter of a Wisconsin senator later in his life. According to Robert Schumann, he was on a level with Niccolo Paganini for the speed and clarity of his playing.
