Henry Wadsworth Longfellow Autograph Letter Signed "Henry W. Longfellow". Four pages, 4.5" x 7.25", Cambridge [Massachusetts], November 24, 1848, with the usual fold creases, minor splits at the edges of the fold, else very good. A letter of introduction for the son of poet and novelist John Neal. Longfellow writes in full: "The bearer W. Neal, son of John Neal, of Portland [Maine] the poet and novellist [sic], wishes to make some inquiries as to the chances of finding in Boston some situation like the one he has held for several months in the Express Office, New York, namely as translator from the French papers. I take the liberty of introducing him to you as one willing and able to answer his questions and to give him any information on this subject. You will find him a young man of talent and reading; and, capable of fulfilling the duties of such a post very acceptably. A word of kindness and advice would much oblige. Yours very truly, Henry W. Longfellow".

Shipping: Flat Material, Small (view shipping information)
