Henry Sims, Canterbury, (fl.c.1760) A MID GEORGIAN OAK-CASED 8 DAY LONG-CASE CLOCK, having an arched hood with arched glazed door between turned columns with brass capitals, the moulded arched trunk door on a (truncated) plain base, the movement, striking the hour on a bell, having an arched brass dial with inscribed maker's name on a boss between spandrels cast with sea creatures, the brass chapter ring with Roman hours and Arabic minutes framing a subsidiary seconds dial and date aperture to the matted centre, the spandrels cast with urns and birds within scrollwork, 196cm (77in) high (sold with two weights, pendulum and trunk door key) Est. £1500/2000
