Continental Army officer (1752–1845) who served at the siege of Boston, Burgoyne and Jersey campaigns, and later as aide-de-camp to William Heath. ALS signed “H: Sewall D.M.M.,” one page, 6.75 x 8.25, June 13, 1778. Letter to Colonel Henry Jackson, written as deputy muster master. In full: “I received a line from you this day purporting that the rolls of the last muster were in my hands which I would beg leave to inform you is not the case. I never have received the rolls of your regiment at all since the muster for April although I have sent repeatedly for them. I consequently have been hindered from making either to congress or the Master Muster General of said muster. I have received those of Colonel Henley's and Lee's, sometime since. After requesting you to make strict examination respecting the rolls of said muster—I would take the freedom to subscribe myself.” In very good to fine condition, uniform fading to writing.
