Distinguished English artist (1898–1986) best known for his abstract, often biomorphic sculptures. TLS, one page, 4.5 x 7, Hoglands letterhead, June 27, 1955. Letter to Gerald Berry. In part: “How very nice of you to write to congratulate me on the C. H.” Under the typed portion of the letter, Moore adds, “I would have written to thank you for your letter before now, except that I have been away first in Germany & then in Holland, in connection with work & only come home yesterday.” Rusty paperclip mark to top edge, a few stray ink marks, and a slightly fuzzy appearance to handwritten portion due to excess ink flow, otherwise fine condition.
