S/N 7468 .44 caliber 24.5” octagonal barrel possible experimental Henry Model 1860 transitional lever action rifle, .44 caliber Octagon 24.5” barrel possible experimental . The rifle shows the characteristic of a Kings Patent 1866. Nelson King patented the hinge receiver loading gate with spring loaded magazine tube in March of 1866. This would make way with the development for the Winchester Model 1866. Metal is a smooth gray patina with scattered oxidation noted throughout. The channel for the follower and spring has been sealed up as well as the barrel sleeve. Brass frame is a mustard patina, stock has been customized with a drop at comb being 2.25”. Wood is good and shows minor handling and usage wear. Action is smooth and functions correctly.
