Born in Ireland and operating in Philadelphia from 1837 to 1852, Charles Curry sold arms in San Francisco from 1852 until his death in 1863, becoming sole West Coast agent for Derringer in 1858, a position he left to his sons, Nathaniel and John (N. Curry & Bro.). Brass blade front and notch rear sights, with a zig-zag flanked "P" on the left side of the breech, "DERINGER/PHILADELA'' on top and "C.CURRY/SAN FRANCo CALA/AGENT" on the barrel. The Derringer marking is repeated on the lock, with scroll engraving on the tang, hammer, lock, German silver reverse and accent pates, and inscription shield, with a zig-zag bordered teardrop buttplate.

Fair. The steel components show a mixed gray patina with brown spotting, mild pitting and scattered handling marks. Traces of the case colors are visible on the lock. Stock is good as refinished, with the right wedge escutcheon being a silver-plated brass replacement part, mended cracks at the tip, and scattered dents. Mechanically very fine.
