Operating circa 1859-1880, W.H. Calhoun was a jeweler and dealer in "Pistols & Fancy Goods" in Nashville, Tennessee. Brass blade front and notch rear sights, with "P" and "DERINGER/PHILADELA" on the breech and "MANd FOR/W.H. CALHOUN/AGENT/NASHVILLE, TENN." on the top flat of the barrel. The Deringer address is repeated on the lock, with scrollwork on the hammer, lock, accent plate, reverse plate, inscription shield, trigger guard and tip, with floral blooms on the escutcheons, pineapple finial and a zig-zag bordered teardrop buttplate. Checkered birds head stock with a silver tipped ramrod.

Condition: Very good, showing a well aged brown finish on the barrel, with dents and a few areas of discoloration, and a darker finish on the other components, with pitting around the bolster. Stock is good, with some cracking and chips. Half-cock needs adjustment, otherwise mechanically good.
