Henry Clay Autograph Letter Signed
Henry Clay Autograph Letter Signed “H. Clay”. One page, 8” x 9.5”, undated, in ink, to J. W. Bronaugh, Indian Department, Georgetown, with free-franked address leaf. In this letter Clay sets out to settle accounts on behalf of three men presumably in his employ. Presumably written by Clay on the occasion of one of his visits to his Lexington, Kentucky estate. Clay also refers to a “…robbery committed on my trunk” and asks Bronaugh to sell some empty demijohns (15 gallon containers) and “remit me the proceeds to Lexington.” The letter bears the usual crease marks, a few stains, some taped repairs on the reverse of the second leaf and has removed from an album leaving remnants of the album leaf stuck to the reverse side. Yet it is still bright and legible and in very good condition.

Shipping: Flat Material, Small (view shipping information)
