In large part: "<I>I have rec'd your letter requesting a copy of Hickeys publication of the Constitution. I would send it with pleasure, but I have but one copy, which I cannot part from. And of my speech, I have not a single copy. My correspondence is so extensive that I am reduced to the disagreeable alternative of neglecting it, or neglecting my public duties...</B></I>" Usual mail folds with some discoloration thereat.
