Henry Clay ALS Henry Clay Autograph Letter Signed
Henry Clay Autograph Letter Signed "H. Clay". One page, 7.5" x 8.0", August 11, 1850, New Port (possibly Rhode Island) to P.R. Tendall. An excellent letter on light blue paper by the "Great Compromiser" while he was serving in the U.S. Senate. It reads partially: "I received your favor of the 9th inst. I regret the causes of the absence of Mr. Tucker from his home...I am glad that you have obtained possession of the papers in the case of Mr. Ray, and that you propose to give them an attentive examination. I wish that you would direct your attention, among other things, to the point whether they...can be legitimately received in evidence before the commissioners. I have already derived much benefit from the invigorating air and Sea bath of this place, and hope to return to Was'n in less than a fortnight from this time, in improved health & strength". The ink is slightly faded, folds per usual. Very Good condition. Mounted and framed to 16.5" x 12.5" with a halftone image of Clay.

Imp
