French army officer of Irish descent. LS in French, signed as Napoleon’s Minister of War, “Cte. D’Hunebourg,” one page, 8 x 10, July 12, 1809. Letter informing a general that he has proposed the promotion of the general’s aide-de-camp to Napoleon, and advising, “As soon as His Majesty lets me know his decision, I shall have the honor to tell you of it.” Intersecting folds, a bit of edge wear, and scattered toning, otherwise fine condition.
