Vintage matte-finish 11.5 x 15.5 Harris and Ewing seated portrait of Taft, signed in the lower border in black ink, “With affectionate regards, Helen H. Taft.” Framed in a period frame to an overall size of 13.5 x 17.5. In good condition, with damp staining to bottom border, some lightly affecting signature, moderate staining to other edges, scattered toning and foxing, light rippling to image, silvering to background and darker areas of image, a bit of scattered surface loss, and scattered spotting to lower border. Despite the flaws, the image is quite clear and the signature is very pronounced.
