Striking selection of five original costume sketches designed by Academy Award-winning costume designer Helen Rose. The sketches, each approximately 15.25 x 22, are expertly accomplished in variations of graphite, pastel, and watercolor, with the majority of sketches bearing approval initials and pencil notations to the front and/or back. The sketches are as follows:

Actress Janis Paige for the 1957 MGM musical Silk Stockings, which shows her (and her matching poodle) draped in a fur shawl and wearing a sparkling blue dress, a sample of which is stapled to the upper left corner, and the reverse stamped as “Prod. No. 1709, Sketch No. 5532, Name Jani Paige, Fitter Brucie, Sequence Ch #2 (Canfield Apt.).”

Actress Pier Angeli for the 1951 MGM film The Light Touch, which shows her wearing a lovely white “Nite Gown” and “Bed Jacket,” with reverse stamped “Prod. No. P-765, Sketch No. 9184, Name Pier Angeli, Fitter Brucie, Date 11--12, Sequence 9.”

Actress Polly Bergen for the 1953 MGM western Escape from Fort Bravo, which shows her in a gorgeous wedding dress, with the upper portion marked “Off white, wedding gown from stock, Alice,” and the reverse stamped “Prod. No. 1627, Sketch No. 3078, Name Polly Bergen, Fitter Alter. Kathryn Mc. & Suz, Date 3/6/53, Sequence #6.”

Actress Eleanor Parker for the 1953 MGM western Escape from Fort Bravo, which shows her in a beautiful pink gown with rose embellishments, a sample of which is stapled to the upper left corner.

Actress Dorothy Malone for the 1957 MGM film Tip on a Dead Jockey, which shows her in a sophisticated gray with white polka dot dress and jacket ensemble, a sample of which is stapled to the upper right corner, with the reverse stamped “Prod. No. 1716, Sketch No. 5744, Name Dorothy Malone, Fitter Ed Saper, Date 2/13/57.” In overall fine condition, with some wear and toning to edges, which could be easily matted out if so desired.
