Heavy barrel percussion half-stocked plains rifle marked A. Wurflein Philadelphia on lock and barrel remaining in very good plus original condition. The rifle measures 41 ½” overall with 24 ½” heavy octagon barrel secured by double keys with rounded muzzle for bullet starting. The barrel shows 50% to 70% original bright tobacco brown finish with some drifting and beginning light to moderate erosion towards the forward half. The sights have been replaced in a later era and the rear sight moved backwards. The lock shows most of its original case hardening just dulling slightly. The stock is walnut with nice Burl wood grain and sharp checkering. The rifle is mounted with double set triggers and shows German silver trigger guard and mountings. There are some bright case-hardened colors on the tang. The rifle is of the size to carry over the saddle or in the front of a wagon in approximately .41 caliber rifled. Est.: $2,500-$5,000.
