Heavy barrel half-stocked plains rifle, circa 1850, .45 cal., 30-1/2” octagon barrel, plain wood stock with pewter forend cap. This un-marked rifle is in overall good condition showing an untouched old patina on metal surfaces, untouchedwood stock with an interesting old gouge and what appears to be a small caliber lead ball imbedded in the left side of the butt stock; set triggers that are functioning at time of description, wood ramrod with one ferule replaced long ago. A greaantique “going West” type gun with an untold story concerning the lead ball in the butt stock. Classic! Est.: $150-$300.
