Headin' Home (Kessell & Baumann, 1920). Lobby Car
Headin' Home (Kessell & Baumann, 1920). Lobby Card (11" X 14"). "The Sultan of Swat," George Herman "Babe" Ruth, slugged 54 home runs in his first season as a Yankee, a feat that created a public feeding frenzy. To capitalize on the popularity of this baseball hero, the Babe was promptly promoted into motion picture work. Aside from the numerous cameo appearances and shorts, Ruth made only two feature films as the star and this card is from his first. A one sheet to the second starring film Ruth made in 1927 sold in our auction less than two years ago for $138,000. This lobby is one of the nicest cards we have seen with Ruth. The four tiny pinholes and tip of the upper left corner have been expertly restored. Everything else is in mint shape. Near Mint/Mint.
