Hawaiian document from 1 July 1901 during the islands' history as the Territory of Hawaii, signed by its Acting Governor Henry Cooper. Cooper was one of the 13 members of the Committee of Safety who overthrew the Kingdom of Hawaii in 1893 and deposed Queen Lili'uokalani, with the hope that Hawaii would be annexed by the United States. Cooper was subsequently named Acting Governor and here appoints a tax assessor for the Territory. Attractive document has intact red Treasury seal, signed ''Henry E. Cooper'' beneath it. Measures 8'' x 14.25''. Light uniform toning and folds, overall very good plus condition.
