Havana Widows (Warner Brothers, 1933). Lobby Card Set of 8 (11" X 14"). Perhaps because of the Great Depression afflicting America, the 1930s produced many variations on the story of female gold diggers preying on rich men. Joan Blondell and Glenda Farrell star in a few of these derivations together. Neither actress could quite carry her own film, but when paired together, they created great chemistry. Here they're impecunious chorus girls posing as rich widows in an attempt to con wealthy Guy Kibbee. Blondell fouls up the plan by falling in love with Kibbee's penniless son, then everything goes wrong when a previous victim of the girls appears. A month after the release of this film, audiences were treated to a cast reunion in "Convention City." This lobby card set is very clean, with most of the cards Near Mint, and includes the original paper sleeve. One card has dirt smudges in the borders, another is missing a bottom-right corner. Otherwise, it's difficult to find a noticeable flaw. Very Fine/Near Mint.
