American industrialist (1868–1938) who organized the Firestone Tire & Rubber Company in 1900. He later became a close associate of Henry Ford and the main supplier of tires for Ford’s automobiles. Uncommon vintage matte-finish sepia 8 x 10 photo, signed and inscribed in white ink “To my esteemed friend John J. Tigert with regards, Harvey S. Firestone, May 16 ’24.” Tigert (1882–1965) was U. S. Commissioner of Education who later became president of the University of Florida. Slight trimming to margins, mild soiling, tiny corner bends, and small chip to top edge, otherwise fine condition. A scarce business autograph!
