TLS, one page, 6.75 x 8.5, personal Yale University letterhead, August 6, 1935. Letter to pioneering autograph dealer Forest H. Sweet, in part: “I find that I have a copy of ‘The Diseases of the Armies,’ Philadelphia 1776. I however have a friend who collects these early medical imprints and I think he will be glad to give you five dollars for it if that price would satisfy you. Will you kindly let me know?” In fine condition. Forest Sweet was an antiques and autograph dealer who helped Cushing assemble a massive collection of books and manuscripts, including some of the most important and unique medical and scientific volumes.
