My work shows an idiosyncratic model of the chemical element salt. Representing the structure of the molecular composition in wood fascinated me. Of course, I also had the classic 5 elements in mind for my work. But also the term element in the chemical world. I was interested in the task of making a model out of wood. I found a piece of a wild cherry that I was working with. The work was created fairly slowly using only hand carving tools.

Hartmut Rademann apprenticed in a traditional craft workshop and received the title of master craftsman. He has a wood shop and gallery in Schwarzenberg, Germany and has participated in symposia in Malaysia, Korea, the Czech Republic, China, and the US. He was a 2018 Windgate International Turning Exchange (ITE) fellow at the Center For Art in Wood.
