Harry Truman TLS as Senator
Harry Truman Typed Letter Signed as Senator “Harry S. Truman”. One page, 8” x 10.5”, on United States Senate letterhead, Washington, March 24, 1942, to W. C. McGrath, St. Louis, Missouri, with original envelope. Harry Truman (1884-1972) responds to a constituent who has recommended Robert Hannegan for an Internal Revenue position. Senator Truman writes in part: “I like Mr. Hannegan, I think he is a capable lawyer, and I am very sure he will make a good Collector of Internal Revenue.” Truman did most certainly like Hannegan as he later served as Commissioner for the Internal Revenue and Truman's Postmaster General. In fact, Hannegan must have liked Truman too because he orchestrated Truman's inclusion on Roosevelt's ticket as vice-president. A wonderful piece of history, in fine condition.

Shipping: Flat Material, Small (view shipping information)
