TLS signed “Harry,” one page, 7.25 x 10.5, personal letterhead, July 7, 1955. Truman sends a thank-you note to Edward D. McKim. In full: “Thank you a lot for sending me the folder about the trip to Panama. I am looking at it and the temptation is certainly great. I wish I could say yes right now but I can’t because I have so many things on hand that I am afraid to make any firm commitments at this time. I will talk to you some more about it later.” He has added the postcript: “My best to Mary, Larry, the girls and the grandchildren.” In fine condition, with a mailing fold passing through the first line of his postscript. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope.

McKim first became acquainted with Truman as members of Missouri's State Guard and served together during World War I. During his administration, Truman named his old friend chief administrative assistant to the president.
