DS as president, one page both sides, 9 x 13.5, December 10, 1947. Presidential pardon given to Carleton E. Saunders who “pleaded guilty in the United States District Court…charging violation of Sections 338 and 88, Title 18…was sentenced to imprisonment for one year and one day…since his release from confinement, has conducted himself in a law-abiding manner. Now, therefore, be it known, that I, Harry S. Truman, President of the United States of America, in consideration of the premises, divers other good and sufficient reasons me thereunto moving, do hereby grant unto the said Carleton E. Saunders a full and unconditional pardon.” In very good condition, with intersecting folds, one through a single letter of signature, two tears to left edge, one through lower portion of seal, and some scattered light soiling.
