Signed book: Memoirs (Year of Decisions and Years of Trial and Hope) in two volumes. First edition. Garden City: Doubleday & Company, 1956. Hardcover with dustjacket, 6 x 8.5, 594 plus 596 pages. Signed and inscribed on the half-title page of both volumes, “To J. R. Pittman from Harry S. Truman.” In very good condition, with cracked front hinges, owner’s bookplates affixed to inside covers, pencil notations, and some mild page toning. Both dustjackets also rate very good, with scattered soiling and creasing, several tears, and the first volume’s jacket several shades darker than the other. Accompanied by a 1970 TLS from Truman’s secretary to Pittman informing him to send the books for Truman’s signature. Pre-certified John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
