Two items: a TLS, one page, 7 x 9.75, personal letterhead, April 26, 1955, addressed to Gilbert J. Tilbury, in full: “Thank you a lot for yours of the 15th, enclosing me the clipping from the New York Times of Saturday, August 14, 1943. That is most interesting. I tried my best to live up to that statement”; and an ANS, one page, 8 x 10.5, April 26, 1957. Truman pens a note at the conclusion of an autograph request: "Hope you have good luck with your hobby, Harry S. Truman, 4/26/57." In the letter to Truman, E. F. Hoffman of Watertown, Massachusetts, asks Truman for his autograph, stating that he has autographs of twelve presidents including Andrew Jackson and FDR. The 1955 letter is double-matted and framed to an overall size of 12 x 15. In overall very good to fine condition, with scattered light creasing, and staple holes to the upper left corner of the Hoffman letter.
