Harry Truman signed copy of ''Freedom to Serve: Equality Of Treatment And Opportunity In The Armed Services'', published by the United States Government Printing Office: Washington: 1950. Truman's autograph inscription to the front free endpaper reads, ''Kindest regards from / Harry Truman / 1/28/56''. Further subtitled, ''A Report by The President's Committee'', book covers the desegregation of the Armed Forces provided for in Truman's Executive Order 9981 issued two years earlier. Runs 82pp. and measures 7'' x 10''. Bound in terra cotta cloth boards with gilt lettering. Toning to leaves and some wear to boards, else near fine. With a typed unsigned LOA from Truman on his own letterhead, addressed to the same gentleman whose name appears on the bottom right corner of the front board.
