Harry S. Truman Autograph Letter Signed
Harry S. Truman Autograph Letter Signed As President. One page, 7" x 8.75", White House stationery, Washington D.C., September 12, 1951. Written to the son of Truman's Executive Assistant, Matthew Connelly. Accompanied by the original White House envelope addressed in Truman's hand. In full: "Thank you very much for the record 'I wish I had a Daddy in the White House'. It is a dandy. You are a thoughtful young man to remember that the President appreciates being considered by the sons of his staff. May all your years ahead be happy ones. I did get a 'big charge' out of the record." The original envelope is addressed in Truman's hand: "Mr. Robert Connelly, By hand through the courtesy of the President's Secretary." The single that the president mentions was recorded in 1951 by Kitty Kallen. This letter shows a playful side of Truman even in the darkest days of the Korean Conflict, as well as how important family was to this man. Presidential ALsS from Truman are quite scarce, and this is an especially nice example with attractive display presence. Fine condition; crisp.
