Prolific American songwriter (1895–1974) whose works, many of which were prominently featured in the films of the Marx Brothers and Eddie Cantor, include such standards as ‘I Wanna Be Loved by You’ and ‘Three Little Words.’ Two items: sheet music for ‘Nevertheless (I’m In Love With You),’ 9.5 x 12, signed on the front cover, “To Arn Howard—With best always from Harry Ruby ‘Nevertheless’ glad you like my songs,”; and a one-page ALS, dated January 31, 1969, also to Howard, reading “It was nice of you to send me the card. Hope this finds you in the very best of everything.” In fine condition, with old tape to hinge of sheet music, as well as some scattered toning and handling wear.
