Harry Potter and The Sorcerer’s Stone (2001) - Gringotts Coin Collection
Set of three Gringotts Bank coins used in the production of the 2001 Christopher Columbus fantasy film Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. Adaptation of the first of J.K. Rowling’s popular children’s novels about Harry Potter, a boy who learns on his eleventh birthday that he is the orphaned son of two powerful wizards and possesses unique magical powers of his own. He is summoned from his life as an unwanted child to become a student at Hogwarts, an English boarding school for wizards. There, he meets several friends who become his closest allies and help him discover the truth about his parents’ mysterious deaths.

These signature coins can be seen throughout the Harry Potter franchise as one of the main currencies used in the Wizarding World. This set features three coins, the gold galleon, silver sickle, and bronze knut, each with the head of a wizard on the head side of each of the coins. The backs of the coins differ, with the 1 1/2-inch galleon bearing a raised image of a dragon with wings spread in flight, the 1 1/4-inch sickle bearing the raised image of a smaller dragon landing, and the 1-inch knut bearing an image of a goat. This set remains in excellent, production-used condition. This lot is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity from Studio Auctions.
