The lot features a collection of 25 circa 1960’s to 1980’s original works of art by Harry Bentz a Montana born and raised Cowboy artist. The works are a considered American Cowboy Folk Art with each of the over 25 original works of art showing a graphite or pen and ink drawing or sketch of a Cowboy in the West. Many are of horseback cowboys, some with a comical folksy pattern. Harry Bentz was born in 1921 in Philipsburg, Montana to a cowboy and rancher family. He grew up breaking horses and living the cowboy life along with hunting mountain lions, bobcats, and coyotes. He started drawing at a young age as an admirer and student of Will James and Charles Marion Russell. In 1940 h began a career as a rodeo bronc rider and later became a member of the Rodeo Cowboy’s Association in 1951. All the works came from a large Harry Bentz collection and many are signed. Many of the plastic wrapped artworks have a Harry Bentz bio on the back. Some are double sided as well. Unusual collection selling all together. Each measures approx. 11” by 8.5”.
