Important Harrison & Tyler Pamphlet from Tennessee, Attacking James K. Polk. Identified as "No. 23", it is clearly part of a series, as the page numbers are 353-368. Published in Nashville, August 19, 1840. The lead story decries "James K. Polk's treachery toward Judge White - His persecution and defamation of that venerable Senator." Other fascinating content includes a critique of incumbent Van Buren's White House expenditures (detailed), references to an 1828 speech by a youthful congressman James Buchanan on this subject, Whig political propaganda, and political reports from other states. Great woodcut at top of cover page shows "Harrison and Tyler" flag, log cabin, and other motifs along with Harrison's portrait. Aside from minor spine wear and two trivial small stains in the right margin, in excellent condition. 6.25" x 10".
