Rare Large Caliber Breechloading Percussion Volley Gun, by Henry Harrington, NVSN, .50 cal., 7-shot, 30'' cord-wrapped blackened barrel, iron frame, large multi-ring and rope decorated nickel silver breech wrap, nicely figured American walnut buttstock. Left side of frame marked ''Henry Harrington Patent 1837, Southbridge, Mass.'' Originally mfg'd in three sizes, with total production estimated at 75 rifles. Less than five 7-round .50 cal. examples are known to exist. Pre-loaded breechblocks could be quickly changed, and all rounds fired by a single nipple. Mfg'd from 1836-1838. Harrington made both pistols and rifles, the pistols being the most commonly encountered. Condition is very good to near fine with wrapped barrel showing just light general scuffing to original finish. Frame and triggerguard have toned dark. Stock with repaired fracture at wrist which detracts little. Action remains crisp, bores are clear and unfouled. Multi-shot breechblock is present. Est.: $8,000-$12,000. (Antique)
