AQS, signed “Harriet Beecher Stowe,” on an off-white 5 x 7.75 lightly-lined sheet. Stowe pens two biblical verses reading, in full: “Rest in the Lord & wait patiently for Him. Ps 37:7. He shall not fail nor be discouraged till he have set judgement in the Earth. Isaiah 42:4.” Signed at the conclusion, “Harriet Beecher Stowe, August 20, Ferry Park Hotel, Saco, Maine.” Uniform light toning to sheet, small notation to bottom, and quotes a couple shades light, but completely legible, otherwise fine condition.
Stowe began Uncle Tom’s Cabin with a short preface which concluded with a quote from Isaiah 42:4, which she has reproduced in the above quote. A superb souvenir of this timeless, influential American classic!
