Harold Abrahams (1899-1978) rose to fame in the 1924 Olympics when he won gold on the 100m sprint. Abrahams had also broken the Olympic and British records during the earlier heats. This was a historic event for the sportsman who was spurred on to prove his talent after increased anti-Semitism in England.
The move from gold medal to silver screen was made with the movie "Chariots of Fire" where, with some artistic license, Abrahams' story was immortalised. Later in life the inspirational sprinter became a writer, broadcaster and chairman of the Amateur Athletic Association.
Dated August 14th, Abrahams' signature is marked clearly on an address book, "Harold M. Abrahams, Bishop's Stortford". The page is in good condition. There is a tear mark along one side of the page where it was removed from its original book binding. The autograph is undamaged and clearly marked in blue pen.
