Featured in this lot is this pastel on paper called "White Eyes - Sioux," from Canadian artist Harley Brown Born in 1939. The artwork features a wonderfully and professionally crafted pastel on paper construction that shows the Native man "White Eyes" looking down and to the left with a scarf around his neck and hair flowing freely on his shoulders. The artist signature is written in pastel in the lower right hand corner title penciled in "White Eyes' Sioux". The piece comes complete with the original reciept from 1973 and pamphlets about the artist. Harley Brown is a Canadian from Calgary, Alberta. He recieved his art training at the Alberta College of Art with an additional two years at the Camberwell School of Art, London, England. While in London, he exhibited with the Royal Institue of Oil Painters; the United Society of Artists; and the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists. He was also commissioned by the late Field Marshall Earl Alexander of Tunis to do a portrait of Sir Winston Churchill. Harley has long had a fascination for the west which could be attributed to the fact that his ancestors were Montana ranchers. Now his pictures can be found at major galleries across the continent and in important private collections of Western art. The condition of this framed pastel artwork is good with no obvious signs of damage and shows good overall well preserved condition. The measurements of this framed artwork is 23 1/8" x 19 1/4" and the visible artwork measures 15 1/2" x 11 1/2".
