Original quarter cloth and paper covered boards with original mounted paper label on front cover. Some light wear to spine, there is light to medium foxing; still a very good or better copy of a very fragile volume. First Nashville edition. Rare in this condition. This is the first copy which retains all of the mounted paper label on the front cover. Though Hardee was a Confederate general, both Confederate and Union armies used Hardee's manual during the Civil War The book belonged to William A. Coleman of Nelson City, Virginia.
