Beloved Danish author (1805–1875) best known for such classic fairy tales as The Ugly Duckling, The Red Shoes, and The Emperor’s New Clothes. AQS, in German, signed “H. C. Andersen,” on an off-white 5.5 x 3.5 sheet. Andersen writes (loosely translated): “In the flower as in the straw you can read a poetry.” A couple of vertical folds, light uniform toning, and a few edge chips, otherwise fine condition. A scarce and highly desirable literary autograph. Pre-certified John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
