<Our item number 103408><B>Handel Tree Border Lamp.</B> The upper panels of the shade are a white-amber caramel glass and the border panels are landscape scenes of metal overlay, bushes and trees. These panels are also painted with green scrubs. Original glass panels and patina. Approximately 17½&#34; in diameter, the shade is detachable; <BR><BR>The base is a vase form with embossed trees and branches. It has been repatinated; with original sockets, acorn pulls, heat cap, and finial. Rewired for safety. The base is signed under the felt pad. Weight of lamp is approximately 13 pounds.<BR><BR>Philip Handel was best known for the art glass lamps that he produced in Meriden, Connecticut at the turn of the century. In Robert DeFalco&#39;s book <I>Metal Overlays by Handel</I>, he states, &#34;<I>Handel conceived and produced lamps with the idea that the fixture itself was sculpture and its luminescence fine art.
