Hand-written letter from S.P. Carson to Dr. Robert B. Vance circa 1827, concerning the possibility of a duel near East Tennessee near Jonesborough. Detailing a possibility of a duel between the two parties, Carson uses angry language against Dr. Vance for insults and transgressions and mentions an election, and the throwdown of an iron glove, and leave the matter open to be resolved the week after September 12th, 1827, when Carron made himself available at Jonesborough. The document measures approx. 12-1/2” high by 7-3/4” wide, written in fountain pen on paper, both sides, some staining, burning, small losses, but generally good and legible, in an antique frame. Would be interesting to further research these two figures. Includes card with full typed transcription of the letter. From the William R. Orbelo Collection. Est: $750 - $1,500
