Hand-Tinted Albumen- Nogawa Factory in Japan. This deep sepia colored photograph is likely a wet-plate collodion image that was hand-tinted after it was developed as the pink tint on the rag next to the young boy runs outside of the lines. The men in the picture are tinted masterfully, with light blues and pinks. The collodion process allowed for negatives to be easily produced and made photographic prints much more available for everyday people. This present image depicts four Asian men working on bronzeware at the N. Nogawa factory in Kioto (Kyoto) Japan. The Japanese were some of the earliest people to begin working with bronze, and their skill and craftsmanship is evidence of this. This is a wonderful vintage photograph. A fantastic, clear, and intriguing image. The condition of the photograph is pristine, no visible damage at all!

Shipping: Flat Material, Large (view shipping information)
