Hand Painted Capodimonte Trinket Box Mid 1800s
For your consideration is this mid 18th century, hand-painted capodimonte trinket box marked with a crown and "N". The box is attributed to the Spanish King's Royal Factory in Naples, as the blue crown and "N" were only used in that factory. The crown and "N" mark was retired in 1834. The trinket box shows highly detailed, hand-painted cherubs doing various activities throughout the box such as fixing a cart, farming, riding large fish, blowing a trumpet and painting. The box features a small lock on the front and gold colored accents and hinges with the hand-painted scenery showing colors of orange, grey, tan, beige, green, blue, yellow, black, red and purple. The bottom is marked with a blue crown and "N" with another faint marking in the corner reading "E.T.". The box shows good condition overall with some slight wear but no obvious signs of damage or cracks. The box measures 2 3/4" L x 4 3/8" W x 3 1/2" H and weighs approximately 12 ounces.
