Beautiful Hand Crafted bronze sculpture of D'or artist signed Ernest Wante. Ernest Wante a Belgian sculptor (1872-1960) created this wonderful nude gilt bronze sculpture circa 1900 of a sexy woman chained to the rock waiting to be devoured by the sea monster. She was eventually saved by Perseus. Here D'or is portrayed as a beautiful gilt bronze nude with long flowing hair, she is chained to the rock as a sacrifice to the sea monster. Perseus returning from the slaying of a giant serpent wearing Mercury's sandals and helmet was flying home and saw her chained to the rock. He flew down, freed her, slayed the sea monster and married Andromeda. One of the few mythological stories that has a good ending. The bronze is inscribed on the lower left side E. Wante.
