This hand-blown molded cobalt and crystal Pairpoint glass covered jar represents a long heritage of American glassmaking.

This piece is hand-blown molded glass with no seams. Overall, it is 10 1/2 inches tall. The bowl itself is 5 1/4 inches tall, with a heavy glass lid with a large crystal knob to safely grasp and lift it. The glass is cobalt blue in color, which results from adding cobalt oxide, a silver-white metal, to the glassmaking process. The nob of the lid, as well as the three feet on the bottom of the bowl, are crystal. The glass has a very refined, silky-smooth finish.

From the style of this piece, I estimate it to be of 1940s-1950s vintage.

This is a stunning and lovely, lovely piece. I recommend it to anyone who appreciates this kind of glass!
