Exquisite 1st. century CE yellow jade carving in shape of a disk featuring 2 swimming hydra dragons. Highest quality of nephrite jade, free of inclusions and having a homogeneous color, dating to Eastern Han period. The reverse side features rice grain pattern carving. Shallow border decorations are now almost invisible due to theage. Diameter: 2.2"(5.5 cm.). Estimated value: $2500. Provenance: Dr. Veleanu's jade collection, the author of collectors' illustrated textbook: "Jade, 5000 BC to 1912 AD, Guide to collectors".
